According to the World Health Organization, more than 5 million childern die each year from preventable diseases. AIDS, Malaria, and malnutrition are killing the most innocent in our world, the children. Uganda, 2012 statistics, indicate 1.4 million people, which 190,000 are children are living with HIV. An estimated 62,000 died in 2011 from AIDS and 1.1 million children have been orphaned by Uganda's devasting epidemic.
AIDS is the biggest threat to Africa's development, according to the United Nations. The reason is large number of people in key roles that are dying: teachers, farmers, health workers, civil servants and young professionals. More than half of Ugandans-over 15.5 million-are under the age of 15 years, underscoring just how important and urgent it is to improve the lives of children and youth, especially the most vulnerable and marginalized. With such a hug young population, the impact of Uganda's achievements for children influence the progress of the nation.
